Greg Halman Joins the Wax Morgue

It appears that outside of the United States, baseball players are being put in very dangerous situations. Just weeks after Wilson Ramos was kidnapped and held for ransom in Venezuela, former prospect, Greg Halman, was killed by his own brother in Rotterdam on Monday.

Halman, who was once a darling among prospectors, failed to live up to the hype created by collectors and fans alike. In parts of two seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Halman batted a disappointing .207 while striking out 43 times in 44 career games.

His cards, which once sold for outrageous prices on the secondary market, had dropped considerably. Before his death, you could find several different certified autographs for under $10 dollars delivered.

As expected, news of his murder has created a surge in activity on the eBay with two autographs being sold in the last few minutes as I write this article (one for $20, another for $15) and many more like to come in the next few days.
