Careful What You Wish For, Jose …
I think it’s fair to say that during Jose’s time in the spot light, he did not appreciate it. Take a look at this photo, for example. It comes from Upper Deck’s beautiful 1991 set and features Jose Canseco in his prime wearing a “Leave Me Alone” t-shirt. Ah, the 90s. Today, 21 years later, Jose is doing everything in his power to stay in the spot light.
From reality TV to celebrity boxing, down to Twitter-whoring and trying out for Independent leagues and begging for MLB tryouts. His latest stunt is desperately hounding retired NBA legend, Shaq, to a boxing fight. This all comes after being banned by the Mexican League he was trying out for after being caught with an illegal substance.
Jose, in 1990 you were on top of the world. You were hands down the best player in the game and had legions of fans, young and old. The entertainment world and pop stars were enamored with your “bad boy” ways and the sports world was ready to give you an early call to the Hall of Fame based on your 1988 season alone.
You wanted us to leave you alone. Well, it’s 2012 and you got what you wanted.

After reading his first book, Jose is a ego driven, and he blames everyone but Jose for his downfall in life. There is no doubt in my mind I have been saying for years, if he just would have kept his mouth shut, he would have been in the hall, but after seeing his light start to dim to guys like Mcgwire, Bonds, and Clemens, he had to do what Jose thought was best. You can be at the top of the pyramid but it is a hard fall when the foundation is cracked. He may have had 40/40, but hindsight is 20/20

Thats the way I feel for people who act like him in many different arenas of life. Ungrateful because someone wants their 2 cents on something. Don’t miss Jose, Barry, Ryan Leaf, Tiger, and many others. Leave them to the void they have created. There are actually figures out there who have a great message, and should be heard. Not just those who get in trouble with the law or drug testing. Tired of all that.
