Andrew Miller.
*sigh*
I don’t even know where to begin. Once a “can’t miss” prospect, Andrew has fallen about as low as you can go. I spent thousands of dollars building up a formidable collection of autographs, game-used relics, Refractors, etc. only to see Andrew’s career bottom out at 25. After being dumped by the Florida Marlins, Andrew was picked up by the Boston Red Sox and sent to the Minors.
I now have in a box, hundreds of Andrew Miller cards which I have no interest in. I also don’t see many 2011 brands including him in their checklists. Part of my interest in collecting Miller was that he was playing for my hometown team. So where do I go from here? Do I dump my entire Miller collection on eBay in hopes of pulling in a Super Collector?
Or do I just stick it out? All I know that I can feel my itch for collecting coming back. Any day now I will be back on eBay and lurking the card forums looking to make trades. Who knows? Maybe someday Andrew will get called back up to The Show and set a record for no-hitters tossed in a season or some other feat and become a hot commodity again.
Still, nothing will make me forget this disaster.
