Buy Me A House (and this card)

The card you see below is absolutely awesome. In 1993, there was so much great wax to bust that certain products got lost in the hustle. I mean, who would want to bust Best when Finest and Refractor technology was being introduced? I may have at some point in my life busted “junk wax” from Best in the 90s but to say it was less than memorable would be an understatement.

That still doesn’t change the fact that this card below is a true gem of a card. It’s an early, certified, on-card autograph from an “off-brand” manufacturer of a future Hall of Fame inductee and probably the #2 guy in our hobby for at least a few more years. Yes, the card is numbered to 1,200, which is like a million by today’s standard but it’s still a neat card which recently sold for just over $400 on eBay.

In 2015, if you can get some sucker to hand you four-hundred dollars for a junk wax era card with a little flash on it, damn it … take that money and run as fast as you can. So, you can imagine with that recent sale you might find another few of these cards popping up with a slightly higher price for those millions of Jeter fans and collectors who missed out.

So what’s a reasonable price? $425? NO. $450? Naw. $500 dollars? Try $85,000.

That’s not a joke. The seller, “Quixsilver92”, is asking for that insane price because he’s insane and because he hardly works or something due to anxiety and wants to buy a nice house in a good neighborhood. He also assumes Jeter collectors can afford to drop nearly $100 grand for a cheap card to gift a total stranger who claims to have just finally started making “decent” money.

Am I being an asshole or just poking a little fun? I guess I don’t feel so bad after reading his eBay auction update in which he claims collectors are being “ugly, hateful, and patronizing”. Gee, I wonder what would cause that kind of response with such a sensible, totally legit, Derek Jeter autograph auction? Hey, if you’re looking to buy a house for a complete stranger, click the link and have a field day.

Nothing to see here. Just a badass MF card right here.
